Buenos Aires

After 24 hours and three flights we finally arrive in Buenos Aires. We have been fortunate to not have to pay for any hostels or housing while we have been here, thank you CouchSurfing we LoVe you!

This was pretty much our first day in BA, sitting on a bench in a park and watching the various runners, bikers, and roller-bladders. We were so exhausted from our travels that we seriously had no energy to do anything!

Coming from Laie, where we road our bikes a total of 2 miles a day, to Buenos Aires where we are walking for about 5-8 hours a day has been drastic change for our bodies. When night rolls around we are like two bears in hibernation, dead to the world. Buenos Aires is a beautiful city in its own way. There are roughly 2 million people who live in BA and 8-9 million people who work in BA daily! This city is very congested and people are everywhere. One thing I have learned is that you must take charge when you are walking. People here are like rats in a maze trying to get from one place to another as quickly as possible and if they happen to slam into you along the way then its your own fault so move.

I love the old city feel and architecture.

BA has a very strong influence from Europe and a lot of its' older building have a very European feel to them. On one of our adventure days we got stuck in a rain storm for 3 hours and ended up spending our time walking around this ornate ostentatious cathedral. I felt so small and insignificant compared to the ginormous replicas of Mary, Christ, different Saints, and other emblems of Christianity. Even though the church was very different than what I am used to I still felt a sense of peace as I entered.

A day of rain and worship

La Boca city of Tango, artists, restaurants, and lots of music! The streets are painted bright outrageous colors that get you in the mood to dance and party the night away.

Dulce de leche we LOVE you!!! Oh my gosh this stuff is like heaven in a plastic container; you can eat this stuff on/with anything or all by its self it's that good! We made Argentine pancakes and smothered them with dulce de leche, bueno!

BA's famous bridge (puente de la mujer) the engineering on this thing is outstanding! Seriously, look at how it is put together, amazing!

Be the bridge

BA is the sunniest city, when the sun is out there is never a cloud in the sky. The weather has been fantastic for us, only one day of rain and the rest sun shine and a light breeze.

Puerto Madero a place for the rich and fancy. The coast is lined with cafes, restaurants, and hotels all enjoying the view of sail boats coming and going from the port.

We have no idea what this building is but people were taking pictures like it was a significant things, so what the heck we joined in the fun :)

Favorite city statue
"Who me?"

We have stayed at three different couch surfing houses and these are some things we have loved:
Frodo (Franciscos cat) a big bushy hair ball that takes 2 days to warm up to you and then smothers you with love and hair.
Sebastian's laugh - have you ever been laughing so hard that you can't breath and you start making a high pitched squealing noise as you gasp for air? Well that's what he sounds like, extremely hilarious!
Alejandro - a rambunctious 5 year old boy that laughs at me when my Spanish doesn't make sense, corrects me when I mis-conjugate a word, and repeats things 3-4 times until I understand what he is saying.
