Cartagena, Colombia

A little bit of the "old" mixed in with the "new"

Walled city
Colorful Streets
Sits on the seashore
Touistic
Sales people galore
Enchanting and Fun

 Hilarious
(must read but trust me it was way better in person, Mike you were a great sport)

We took a boat packed full of tourists to Isla del Rosorio. The tour was probably overpriced but DJ Johnny White made it all worth it. The tour guide was hilarious and made the journey to the islands and to playa blanca fly by.

The boat was split into two teams and I (Mike) was chosen to be team leader of the “Dolphins” and we were up against the “sharks.” First, I was asked to dance and make a fool of myself; if anyone has ever seen me dance to random Mexican music you can attest to my lack of rhythm and charm. Nichole was dying of laughter. After dancing we were asked random questions about the history of Cartagena, lets just say that thanks to my great team I didn't do so bad.

Next, he had us go up and down the rows to gather as many items as possible trying to get more than the other team. First we had to get hats then shirts and finally bras. After gathering all these items two girls were chosen to dress me and the other team captain in them. Here are some of the pictures of how beautiful I looked.
After dressing us we had a "Strut Your Stuff" competition and yes I WON! Lets just say that I know how to strut my stuff and twirl around a pole :)

My competition

Here comes my sexy pole maneuver :)

My team, the Dolphins. cheering me on, honestly it was a lot of fun

Apology: For the last 2 1/2 years I have heard Mike rave about how AMAZING the fruit is in Central America. We couldn't go into a grocery store with out him comparing the fruit and complaining about how crappy Americas imported fruit is. It got to the point of when grocery shopping I would go buy the fruit alone, so I wouldn't have to hear "well in Panama the fruit is only 5 cents and it tastes SO much better......the fruit this and the fruit that.....blah blah blah the fruit".

Well folks, he was right! The fruit in South and Central America is AMAZING, fresh, recently picked, perfectly ripe, and oh so delicious. Now instead of just having one fruit complainer there is going to be two of us.

Herding the sheep, oh I mean people, from the beach back to the cruise ship

Random: people who can speak English always seem to want to take a picture with you. We met this nice guy and his girlfriend on the cruise, he was so excited to practice his English. He told us all about himself and his girlfriend (she didn't speak very well). After the cruise he wanted a picture with us (his girlfriend wanted one as well). Random, yes I know but truly that's how it is down here. Random strangers want their picture taken with us random travelers. Honestly, what are they or us ever going to do with that picture? Hey I guess that's what Blog is for :)

  1. Excellent photos!! I looove Cartagena because the city has been able to keep its colonial flavor integral. Thast`s the reason why this magical city has got the status of a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
